rib     About us

     Marcus Jones
DipMarSur(IND) AMIMarEST
:

I started working in the marine industry as a master of a UK Class V passenger vessel in London and qualifed 1992.
In 2011 I gained a Diploma in Marine Surveying of commercial vessels through the International Instiute of Marine surveying
specialising in. Accident Investigation, paint coatings specification, marine engineering damage, Marine insurance,
and shortly afterwards joined The Institute of Marine Science and Technolgy (IMarEST) as a Associate member
    (8030062).

Survey work has included working with the UK MCA on heel and stability tests on passenger vessels.
and consultation work for commercial operators including SMS and vessel operation.
I have done surveys on private narrowboats and tugs, and wide beam barges of steel and aluminium construction, as well as
engine condition surveys and damage surveys of commercial craft for insurance. I have worked on
consultations for marine projects freight, and passenger operations, and waterway infrastructure
  designs for GLA
, and national campaign groups, and NGOs for River Thames, River Lea, and London 2012 olympics
.

I have undertaken accident investigations for unions and insurance companies, employing CGI modeling for surveys
  and installation design work.

I am currently looking at safety of Lithium Battery installations with a special interest group within IMarEST.
As a IMarEST member I have attended courses on Marine Hydraulics and RCD II compliance,
Electrical DC and AC systems, materials science and corrosion, MCA certifcation, and Marine H&S

I have engineering expertise in DC systems installation and design and control boards and servicing of marine high speed
and low speed diesel engines. LED lighting conversions were a big part of the workload while in London,
with many new and existing vessels requiring new DC and AC systems to be installed.
